Hanna Wojtyna and Weronika Jodkowska, second-year undergraduate students of the International Relations program, participated in the international student conference “Let’s Think Beyond the Bin: Reimagining Consumption for a Sustainable Future” held at the University of Basel from March 24–28, 2025. Their participation in the event, as scholarship recipients of the Swiss university, was part of the cooperation between UAM and UB, coordinated by Prof. Jarosław Jańczak.

The 5-day conference aims to bring together students from several European universities to work together on real-world sustainability challenges. Students worked in international teams and engage directly with stakeholders from different sectors facing pressing environmental and sustainability issues. The conference took place as part of the University of Basel’s Sustainability Week.

Students’ reports:

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to participate in this conference. Over the past few days, I have met many amazing people from around the world, with whom I had the chance to exchange perspectives, knowledge, and experiences. The conference gave us the opportunity to attend lectures led by experts in their fields, take part in workshops, and present our group projects. Despite the intense schedule, we also found time to explore Basel and enjoy the many attractions the city has to offer – including museums, themed events, and its beautiful architecture. In the evenings, we spent time together by the Rhine, enjoying great conversations and the unique atmosphere.
